The club was formed in 2008 by 10 members of the El Valle Asociación, it was subsequently reformed as an independent organisation in 2012 and renamed Lake Viñuela Photographic Club.
Active membership fluctuates between 15 to 20 photographers at any one time. Most members live or have holiday homes local to Lake Viñuela although a few live elsewhere and contribute to challenges online. Members are predominantly British/Irish with a small contingent of Spanish.
The club has differing skill levels, from novice to the more proficient. All are welcome as everyone has one thing in common, a passion for photography and a desire to improve their technique in the company of others. Whether one has a basic digital compact camera or a top of the range DSLR is irrelevant, it’s all about taking better photographs.
We compete with other photographic clubs in the province on an annual basis. Besides taking part in competitions, we have held two successful exhibitions of our work and are proposing another in 2018.
Club members pay 15€ per year to the club’s funds and currently meet on the third Thursday of every month at 10.30am, Restaurante La Era, Puente don Manuel.
As the venue of meetings can change at any time, it would be advisable to contact the club's email at LVPC, stating your intention to attend any forthcoming meeting.
Meetings consist of the business of the day which is normally very brief, followed by the critiquing of photographs taken for our monthly challenges.
We also supplement meetings with the occasional field trip, technical tutorials and social events.
Due to the Coronavirus all meetings are cancelled until further notice.
